The Greenest Generation

Alltech's 24th International Feed Industry Symposium

April 20-23, 2008 | Lexington, Kentucky, USA

Alltech’s 2008 Symposium, The Greenest Generation, will identify success stories of companies using new nutritional knowledge to revolutionize the way we raise animals and feed the world. It will explore consequences of lack of traceability, both on consumer confidence while at the same time, the potential for the introduction of unacceptable ingredients into our food chain. It will show positive examples of agriculture being custodians of the environment as well as delivering a better, more cost effective product.

The Symposium will also urge delegates to find constructive ways in which we, the agriculture industry, can respond to the green revolution, and ask the following questions:

  • Can we feed the 1 billion people on this planet who still don’t have enough to eat?
  • How does modern agriculture compare to 'organic' production in terms of carbon footprint, environmental pollution and greenhouse gases?
  • Can we continue to produce food less expensively while feed costs have risen by 50 percent?
  • What about safe food – can Salmonella, E.Coli and Campylocbacter be contained?
  • Animal Welfare – how can we best respond to consumer concerns?

Alltech’s Symposium is an exciting time to share knowledge and gain new insights into our industry. It’s an incredible opportunity too for individuals throughout agribusiness to come together and discuss pertinent issues such as traceability, supply variability and constraint, and using new technologies to reduce the impact of agriculture on the environment.
